Before Dad arrived and while Michael was working, Mom and I took a Pasta cooking class together! We had SO much fun and it was some of the best pasta I have ever eaten.

By the end of the class we had learned how to make 2 meat dishes, appetizers, gnocchi (which I love), ravioli (which was delicious!) and pappardelle (a wide, flat pasta noodle). We learned a ton and are both excited to try making homemade pasta at home. Now we just have to decide which pasta machine to get :)
We also went to Appia Antica Park to ride bikes and check out the catacombs. It was super fun riding bikes around but HOT and bumpy riding on cobblestone streets.

We went to the Catacombs of St. Callixtus. I believe the tour guide said that the Christians were not allowed to bury their dead in the city walls of Rome, also the custom of most Romans was cremation and the Christians wanted to bury their dead intact, so catacombs were the answer. The Catacombs of St. Callixtus originated around the middle of the 2nd century, covering some 90 acres, with 4 levels, going more than 20 meters deep. Many Christian martyrs along with several Popes were buried there. It is estimated that as many as 500,000 Christians were buried in this catacomb.
Now on to some of the fun places we took Mom and Dad in Rome--starting with our neighborhood market (Stripes everywhere!!).

We had a blast being tour guides for Mom and Dad. It was so nice that they had already done the big touristy stuff on their last trip so we could just walk around and take them to our favorite places. We LOVE Rome!
