Sad and broken

Michael loves to play basketball at the RB. He plays almost daily and even rented a locker their to keep his shoes in. On Friday the 19th, while running down the court on a break away he went up for a layup, made the shot, and landed on some guys foot causing him to roll his ankle. This isn't the first time Michael has rolled an ankle. So he walked it off and called me to pick him up.
The next morning Michael woke up to a huge, swollen ankle he couldn't walk on. I went to the health center to pick up some crutches, but they wouldn't let me have any unless he came in for an appointment. So I picked him up and brought him in.

The doctor poked and prodded his ankle. They even X-rayed it to our surprise. Then even more to our surprise, the doctor said it was broken. A compound fracture. They started strapping him into a boot (to wear for 3-5 weeks) and gave him crutches for the week. Michael was so mad. He hates not being able to workout. Luckily though, he won't have to wear the boot in Tonga. As long as he follows the doctor's orders.

Doesn't he look happy?

Tonga

So Michael and I applied and were accepted to a field study program this summer in Tonga. We will both be doing research while we are there. Michael is studying their government and I'm researching obesity. But mostly we are excited to live on the beach again. Mom and Dad are even coming visit at the end of our program. Then we are all off to Australia and New Zealand for some adventures. In other words, we are DYING for this semester to be over. We cannot wait to get to Tonga.

Look how beautiful it is! We leave May 4th.

Since last I wrote

Since the last time I posted Michael and I have transferred to BYU Provo, made it through our first winter, worked in Ohio for a summer, celebrated our 1st anniversary, got through a tough fall semester, and welcomed in 2010.

Highlights of 2009

Cutting off all my hair. Something I've always wanted to do. But now its almost all grown back :)

I surprised Michael with a trip to NYC for his birthday last year. We ate cannolis in little Italy, rented bikes in Central Park, ate dinner in China town, and shopped a bit.
